The celebration in Anandpur Sahib lasts for three days.
The Guru gave the Sikhs the chance to practice their fighting prowess in mock combat during Hola Mahalla. This was presumably done to divert people’s energies to a more constructive endeavor and prevent a bloodier battle against the imperial power.
