Suggested Itinerary

In the morning, enjoy the iconic breakfast of Parathas and ghee
and roam the streets of Anandpur Sahib. Since this is a small town,
most of the tourist places are located within walking distance of
each other. You are likely to discover some unique locations as you
walk through the city.

In the evening, visit Gurudwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, which is
the holiest place in the town since this marks the place where the
Khalsa Panth was founded. However, this Gurudwara is always full
of devotees, and it may take some time to navigate the crowds.
Your visit to the Gurudwara is incomplete without staying for the
Langar – a meal offered to the devotees by the Gurudwara.
Here, hundreds of pilgrims sit together with gratitude and enjoy
minimalistic food in the house of God.

Commuting in Anandpur Sahib

Anandpur is a small town, and the most popular mode of transport for the locals is auto rickshaw. Tourists who come from other cities can also hire cars for the entire duration of their stay to make the commute easy. There are no taxis and very few public buses in the town.

Visiting Gurudwaras

There are more than 10 Gurudwaras in Anandpur Sahib, and it can take more than a week to visit them all, but depending on the time you have and the location of your hotel, you can visit at least 3 or 4 during a weekend trip. The five forts are located at the edges of the city and tourists need to arrange for some form of transport like a hired car or rickshaw to visit them all.
